CBRNe World Capability Profile: Northrop Grumman

Northrop Grumman’s Joint Services Light Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance System (JSLNBCRS) detects, identifies, and marks NBC hazards and provides information reports and warnings to commanders and follow-on forces in peace and wartime operations.

JSLNBCRS has significantly less impact on strategic and intra-theater lift resources than other NBC reconnaissance systems. In forward combat areas, JSLNBCRS offers amphibious and helo lift capability and performs reconnaissance and surveillance to confirm or deny NBC contamination.  In rear areas JSLNBCRS detects NBC hazards along supply routes, at logistics bases, airfields, ports and key command centers.

Northrop Grumman integrates US Government advanced NBC sensors in JSLNBCRS in a common, human-factors compatible equipment suite with US Government sensor management and command and control software for commonality with other ground combat systems.  The software enables automated and manual creation and transmission of NBC messages and reports in accordance with NATO and standardized US Department of Defense formats. Command and control systems developed by Northrop Grumman - Command and Control Personal Computer and Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below - provide electronic mapping features that enable on-board display of situation awareness information.
The JSLNBCRS additionally provides:

• Collective Protection system with overpressure and system failure alarms to shield the crew from NBC agents and toxic chemicals.
• Environmental Control Unit for climate conditioning between 65˚and 85˚F for the crew and electronic equipment in extremes from -25˚ to 125˚F.
• Auxiliary Power Unit to operate the equipment suite in all mission modes with significant power margin.
