Major General John P. Horner, Deputy Director, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Commander, U.S. Strategic Command Standing Joint Force Headquarters for Elimination (SJFHQ-E) of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and the Deputy Director of its Center for Combating WMD (SCC-WMD), is the second Major General to join the ranks of expert speakers at CBRNe Convergence Asia. “The DoD generally, and DTRA specifically have made major efforts in Japan, and elsewhere in Asia, following the ‘pivot to Asia’ speech in 2011. Great strides have been made with partners in countries like the Republic of Korea, the Philippines and Japan in improving CBRN defence and we are delighted, though not surprised, to welcome Major General Horner to the lineup,” said Gwyn Winfield, Conference Producer of CBRNe Convergence Asia.
Major General Horner joins speakers from the region, as well as around the world, in providing insights into CBRN defence, especially in preparing for high visibility events. Experts will speak on events as varied as the London Olympics, Rugby World Cup, Rose Bowl, Nato Summit and many others.

“It is hard to find a market in Asia as exciting as Japan is right now,” said David Levitt, Sales Director at CBRNe Convergence Asia. “While the terrorist threat has been low for the past fifteen years, they do face regional challenges and have the most high profile sporting event, the Olympics, coming to Tokyo in 2020. It is important for companies to get within the buying cycle of Japanese response agencies, and this is why we have chosen Tokyo as our venue in 2016. It will bring together speakers and delegates from the Asia-Pac region together with some of the best that Europe and the US has to offer. The two day Congress and Exhibition will be joined by a landmark demonstration from the Japanese Ground Self Defence Force and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. We also hope to be able to bring you news of an exciting Federal partner in the coming weeks.”
