Gregory Sayles, Ph.D.
Gregory Sayles is the Director of EPA’s National Homeland Security Research Center (NHSRC). NHSRC conducts research and develops technologies that enhances EPA’s capability to carry out its homeland security responsibilities associated with terrorist attacks and other disasters. The Center works closely with EPA and local emergency responders and water utilities to improve their capabilities to characterize contaminated urban areas, protect and respond to water system emergencies, understand the fate and transport of environmental contamination, assess exposure, and clean up contaminated indoor and outdoor areas and water systems.
The Center conducts research at EPA’s laboratories in Cincinnati, OH and Research Triangle Park, NC, and has offices in Washington, DC. Dr. Sayles brings more than 25 years of research, planning, and management experience to this position. Greg earned chemical engineering degrees from the California Institute of Technology (B.S.), the University of California, Davis (M.S.), and North Carolina State University (Ph.D.).
