Dave Frewin, the artist behind many of CBRNe World, and also NBC International’s, covers has made a reputation for himself as being able to capture the essence of CBRNE.

Before retiring, he made an impressive name for himself as a designer and cartoonist in the UK Ministry of Defence.

He had that rare combination of military expertise, artistic skill and an iconoclastic sense of humour which occasionally irked the Whitehall mandarins while delighting all the foot-soldiers.

The series of playing cards that he has designed have been a big seller on the CBRNe World website, and had to go into two printings.

His latest work is a series of CBRNE-themed limited edition prints. Each print is limited to 200 of each; there will be only one set made, and each print is numbered and signed by both the artist and the editor.

Based on chess pieces, you have the chemical King, radiological Queen, biological Knight, explosive Bishop and nuclear Rook. Each chess piece comes with an accompanying pawn, or two, that further ties the piece in to the theme – the Nuclear Rook, for example, has one hand over “the button” while the other moves aside to let an ICBM fire.
